Unusual Kitbashes

Welcome to my 1:6 scale hobby page!

Back in the fall of 2000 I began collecting 1:6 scale action figures.  I started with 21st Century Toys' Ultimate Soldier, then figures from Dragon, & Blue Box Toys. I've discovered Yamato & Palisades Toys too. I don't own any GI Joes; even though they have a very huge following, they're just not for me. I go for the more realistic figures now.

Yes... teenagers, twentysomethings, thirtysomethings, and folks older, actually collect 12 inch (a.k.a. sixth scale) action figures. It's a pretty cool hobby that is enjoyed by more people than you think; students, police officers, doctors, military servicemen, or even techies like me. If you take a look at my guestbook, you'll see folks from all over The US, England, Japan, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, France, to name a few. And it's not just for guys, I know married couples who both collect. I know a woman with better carpentry skills than I'll ever have that can build 1:6 scale furniture & buildings! It's a diverse following, to say the least.

It's a bit like collecting die cast cars or comic books; 3 1/2 " Star Wars figures or even stamps. People by nature like to collect things. Many hobbyists collect figures for their own reasons; maybe a pristine boxed figure will appreciate in value, or you may get your hands on a rare version. But the thing that really separates our hobby from others is the heavy customization that is done. Yes, many of us take them out of the boxes. No, we do not "play" with them, but we like to rearrange pieces to make unique creations, which we call "kit bashing". That's where the real fun come into play.  it's a bit more fun to see what I can come up with from a big pile of loose parts!  It gets the creative juices flowing!

From customizing it went to photographing the figures in action scenes & submitting them to sites like Green Leader's 21 Unofficial Ultimate Soldier fan site. That was fun for a while, but it wasn't enough. I started this site in March of 2001 as I figured what better way to show off some of my kit-bashes & photo layouts than my own website?

At the last count, I was up to 180 figures & about 23 vehicles. Luckily I have a very supportive wife who deals with 1:6 scale items all over the coffee table & having to step over figures during a photo layout.

So, if you're into the hobby, get yourself a cold beverage & take a look around. It may take you some time as I have a whole lot of content here! Over 80 pages worth, in fact!

There's literally something for everyone; whether you collect Modern era figures or WWII; If you like cops or bad guys;  or just vehicles. I hope you enjoy your visit!
