The Emergency Ordnance Disposal Bureau.

The EOD Bureau is responsible for all bomb disposal work both on land and underwater. It also trains officers on explosives related matters and inspects storage of ammunition and explosives.

In addition to operational bomb disposal duties, the Bureau provides a range of other services, including training and providing technical advice on explosives-related matters. It was also instrumental in assisting other government departments to develop a coordinated response to terrorist incidents involving Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). The Bureau has an international reputation for the quality of its research and procedures for dealing with WMD incidents and gave well-received technical presentations on this and other subjects to bomb disposal officers in Europe and the United States in 1999.

 Officer Pak Chik-sui

Officer Pak performs Search & Reconnaissance tasks wearing the SRS-5 suit. This type of protective over-garment provides CB Blast protection during low threat EOD/EDD operations involving agent contaminants.  In these situations, it must be used in conjunction with the SRS-5 Helmet with VBC-250, Chemical Protective Undergarment (CPU), an SCBA system and appropriate CB protective boots and gloves.

BlasTech SRS-5 suit.

Its lighter weight and flexibility make it an excellent protective platform for search and reconnaissance missions, 'number two' personnel and dog handlers. The SRS-5 Suit includes an Integrated Groin Protector (IGP) and a retractable groin plate for easier kneeling.

Officer Simon

Officer Simon performs the actual bomb neutralization tasks wearing the world's most innovative Bomb Disposal Suit. The EOD helmet is the world's first Threat Level IIIA ballistic helmet available to military and law enforcement agencies. EOD helmet is the only EOD helmet in the world that provides complete and absolute 360 degree protection at the stated Threat levels.

EOD Bomb Disposal suit

The EOD bomb disposal suit also employs the most advanced technology in design and state-of-the-art fragmentation-defeating materials available in the world today. Through extensive research and development spanning more than a decade in actual field tests, and the leading Bomb Disposal Suit ensemble capable of defeating record setting specifications against the number one threat faced by modern day EOD technicians... fragmentation.

Officer Xavier Tam

Officer Tam controls the EOD robot using a state of the art digital remote unit. Calibrations are done with a laptop computer. He works in conjunction with officers Pak & Simon; sending the robot in as a first line investigation of suspicious devices. If need be, he can render a device harmless by high pressure jet of water or shoot the device with the robot's weapon system.

EOD Robot

Since their EOD inception, robotic systems have saved numerous lives by helping to wipe away the threat of improvised explosive devices and vehicle-borne explosive devices encountered daily throughout the world.

There are situations where sending in a man to investigate a device is not safe. For those times, the Hong Kong police EOD team employs its EOD man-portable robot. This remote controlled unit is fully equipped with night vision camera, highly articulated front & rear claws, a water cannon, and a 12 gauge shotgun for remotely detonating an explosive device. (This was a custom piece that I built myself. I combined a couple of actual ideas into this fictitious unit.)
